Sicilian Caltagirone 10″ Boy on a Dolphin

A boy rides a dolphin that is riding on the back of a turtle. We guessed this might be Taras, the son of Poseidon who was in a shipwreck when his father sent a dolphin to rescue him. As for the turtle, we wonder if this is a nod to the Hindu concept of the turtle who carries the world. Such leaps from one culture to another are not so strange when speaking of Sicily!
