Sicilian Caltagirone 11″ Band of Cherub Musicians Candlestick

This is a magnificent piece of Sicilian ceramics, with museum-quality detail. It was handcrafted and hand-painted by artisan Giacomo Alessi. His work both in majolica and in writing has been featured and published internationally and is especially cherished in Italy. His pieces from Caltagirone evoke a mythological world of beauty cultivated by the rich Sicilian culture. In this piece, a band of cherubs sit together performing a tune on their instruments, drums, a flute, a violin, and a mandolin.
