Sicilian Santo Stefano 10″ Large Rooster Pitcher
Because of a legend about the Medici family from the 15th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to hired assassins approaching, rooster pitchers like this one are considered providers of good fortune. This rooster or chicken pitcher was handcrafted and hand-painted in Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily. We like to call its coloring “Messina.”
It is 10″ in height. It can hold 46 oz. Measurements are approximate.
