Because of a legend about the Medici family from the 15th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to hired assassins approaching, rooster pitchers like this one are considered to be providers of good fortune. This Limoni rooster or chicken pitcher was handcrafted and hand-painted in Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily.
