Deruta Galletto Green 8″ Bowl
This ceramic bowl was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Labor Deruta. It is perfect for single servings of soup, pasta, salad, or another food. The Galletto pattern was a version of green and white ceramics from Orvieto in the 13th century. In the 19th century, centuries after Deruta became the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern, and the leaves were modernized. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune. This is because of a legend about the Medici family from the 15th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici about the approach of hired assassins.
The Galletto Green 8″ bowl is two and a quarter inches in height. It is eight inches in diameter. Measurements are approximate.
