Deruta Galletto Green 6″ Bowl
This bowl was the ideal size for soup or cereal. It was hand-painted by Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy, and it is dishwasher safe. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of green and white ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13th century. The original Galletto pattern was green and white in color. In the 19th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.
This bowl is two and a half inches deep with a six and a half inch diameter. Measurements are approximate.
