Deruta Galletto Blue Mug
Enjoy your coffee or tea from this cup that carries with it a bit of history. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13th century. In the 19th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home, most likely because of a rooster’s crow alerting Giuliano de’ Medici of approaching assassins sent by rivals, the Pazzi family. This ceramic mug was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy. It is dishwasher safe.
The Galletto Blue Mug is 3.5″ in height and can hold 10 oz. Measurements are approximate.
