Deruta Galletto Blue 8″ Salad/Dessert Plate

This ceramic plate salad or dessert plate was handcrafted and painted by the artists Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy. It is dishwasher safe. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of ceramic that came from the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.

In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern. The leaves were also modernized. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune.
