Deruta Galletto Blue 5″ Bowl

This ceramic bowl was hand-painted by the artists of Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy. It is perfect for smaller portions of food, such as cereal, and it is dishwasher safe. The Galletto pattern is a version of ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.  In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized.  As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.

This bowl is two inches deep and has a five-and-a-half inch diameter. Measurements are approximate.
