Deruta Galletto Blue 15X11″ Scalloped Oval Serving Platter

The Galletto pattern is a modified version of ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.  In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized.  As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.This ceramic platter is a wonderful size to bring to the table. It was handcrafted and painted by the artists Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy.
